Awesome Podcasts and Apple Products! →
We’ll have much to talk about, what with the new Mac Pros (finally, right?), speed-bump iMacs, and the gorgeous new 16:9 27-inch Cinema Display that Apple might hypothetically release tomorrow. Uhoh, Gruber’s playing coy again. Get ready for more new Macs and displays! Also, Dan Benjamin’s podcasts are all awesome and I’m looking forward to this one too.

Customer Misinformation
I had my car’s oil changed in preparation for tomorrow’s ten-hour drive home. This was the “Customer Information” on the receipt: James Cloudman 707 Somthing Ave. Rimly, MI 77072 The scary part is that the address is almost half right.

Geek Drift
Four years ago, Facebook was a site with simple and useful features. Today, Facebook is bloated with tons of applications, a complex user interface and simply strange features (even I don’t know what makes the “Top News” feed useful to anyone). MSNBC found that Facebook has a customer satisfaction rating on par with other companies & industries that most people describe as...

Garrett Murray on the iPhone 4 →
While one of the most vocal about the iPhone 4’s issues, Garrett Murray isn’t looking to replace it: While it’s true that I’m unhappy with parts of my iPhone 4 experience (specifically dropping calls and the proximity sensor), it is otherwise one of the best products Apple has ever made. I keep describing the iPhone 4 to people as the “best and worst phone I’ve ever owned,” which...

Newspaper to Charge People to Comment →
Could be interesting to see how this plays out. It’s already getting some ridicule (though admittedly this is also the site that trashed a web font service just because Google has a free one), but increasing the barrier to entry and eliminating anonymity could make for positive changes. It could also play out like Blizzard’s Real ID debacle. I’m not willing to put money on which...

Free Year of Amazon Prime For Students →
Of particular note in the Terms & Conditions: The automatic renewal provisions in the Amazon Prime Terms & Conditions (which would require you to pay for Amazon Prime) do not apply to this membership, even if we decide to extend the free Amazon Prime offer beyond one year. A sweet deal on free shipping that’s halfway decent too. Of course, they’re doing it to get you...

The changes made to my domain DNS to get it to work with Tumblr were randomly reverted. Not cool! [EDIT] …aaaand it’s back.

Finally Set Up My Blog's Domain Name
Now you’ll be able to type in jimcloudman.com to get to my blog, where before that would redirect to jimcloudman.tumblr.com. All thanks to moving to a host with decent DNS controls. If you’re curious as to what hosting service I picked, I picked Slicehost. This is a real man’s hosting service, but their DNS controls are easy enough to work with.

My (Not-So) Ridiculous but Probably Unoriginal...
Engadget just found a tiny touchscreen with the name Apple on it. What would Apple do with such a thing? How about an iPhone Nano? Yes, I know you’ve hard this before, but bear with me here! An iPhone Nano sounds like a ridiculous idea, particularly if you think about it as a shrunken iPhone. But if you think about it as an iPod Nano with a cellular radio chip in it, it seems a lot...

Ars Technica calls the demise of Microsoft’s KIN a “tragic demise.” It really is, because the phone had some great ideas. Unfortunately, the story of KIN’s demise has become more interesting than the phone itself. Indeed, it may be a foreshadowing of Microsoft’s demise. Yes, they’re raking in a ton of revenue, their products are used around the world, and they...

Firefox Keyword Bookmarks
I’m well aware that most of you that read my blog use Webkit browsers rather than Firefox. Someday, circumstances will let me do that again, but this trick is one of the reasons why I need Firefox right now: keyword bookmarks, specifically keyword bookmarks with search entry. These are powerful. I use them to search specific sites with Google, write tweets from my address bar, and toggle...
