You Win, RIM →
Wow, RIM, way to kill off your developer base before you even manage to build one. Also, it’s gotta hurt to be Adobe, knowing that the more they manage to integrate themselves into a software platform, the more it sucks.

OSX Lion: Resolution Independence, the Easy Way →
Chris Foresman at Ars Technica:
Lion also has support for high pixel density monitors using a limited form of resolution independence. Apple has attempted to graft resolution independence onto Mac OS X as far back as 10.4, though the feature was never fully implemented. Lion will reportedly allow developers to use the same “2x” resolution method used in iOS to simultaneously...

Amazon Prime Unlimited Streaming TV →
Wow, this looks like a great deal on top of the two day shipping deals that already come with Amazon OK SERIOUSLY WHY IS EVERYTHING BRITISH?!?
Also, this can’t be used with the free year of Amazon Prime that students get. That’s a shame because that’s what I have now.

Readability Resubmitted to App Store →
Good: Apple isn’t out to force every iOS/web app developer to rework their business model just so that users have a better purchasing experience.
Bad: The line where Apple does force you to do this is even more of a mystery than before.

Cool Tech Site of the Day →
Is it a new blog by an industry insider, or a former Engadget writer? Nope, it’s Tumblr’s #tech radar page. Lots of interesting stuff that I haven’t heard about. The only downside is that there’s no RSS for it.
The #design page is also pretty good, though a lot of it goes over my head. Both are worth following!

DF: Regarding a Smaller iPhone With the Same Pixel... →
John Gruber:
In theory this would work. You could make iPhone screens of any size, so long as the pixel resolution were either 480 × 320 or 960 × 640. But in practice that’s not how the iPhone was designed. It’s a physical artifact, and the size of the display is what’s important.
The size of the display is important, but isn’t the optimum screen size determined by the ability of the...

...and Never Will I Coffee?
Over the last day, I’ve gotten 1 person who gave me a recommendation on what coffee to drink, and 4 or 5 people telling me not to drink it, or at least warning me about the dangers. That’s sending a message, all right… so, my coffee drinking plans are scrapped. Thanks for the input, everyone!

Never Have I Coffee'd
I think I’m a little too old to be saying this, but I’ve never had coffee before. Even through college I’ve never really had the urge to try it, but now that I’m in the world of adults and working and all that fun stuff I figure it’s something I need to learn. So, that being said, I don’t know where to begin. From what I can tell, coffee is a lot more complex...

No Lines for Verizon iPhone →
Julio Ojeda-Zapata (via Daring Fireball):
So I was astounded to arrive at the mall at about 6:30 a.m. to find that NO ONE was in line at the Apple store. Ditto for the Best Buy Mobile store. One of the Verizon stores had a couple of people.
This doesn’t surprise me that much. The AT&T iPhone came out more than six months after its announcement. That’s 25% of a two-year...

Using Transmit as a Finder Replacement →
Chris Bowler is using Transmit as a replacement for the OSX Finder. Doesn’t sound like a very bad idea considering that Transmit is a solid file transfer application - who says it only has to work with remote files?

Tumblr 503 →
Proof that the Tumblr team has too many bored graphic designers that merely read The Oatmeal all day, compared to the engineers who are working to keep the site running smoothly.

The Daily: Indexed →
If you’re not lucky enough to have an iPad of your own (like, say, you’re just out of college and are only just scraping by), then you can check out The Daily by following this Tumblr.
Of course, this also gets you free access to their news, and that might convince somebody to try to shut it down. Also, this is the same company that runs Fox News, so if you have, uh, opinions about...

Media, Technology and Convenience
People are naturally lazy, in general. Yes, many of these people are quite productive, but very few people will do extra work when they know they don’t have to. So in the Darwinian world of technology, the more convenient technology usually wins out.
Today, the new iPad news app The Daily was released, and the focus has yet again turned to the now-ubiquitous phrase “Print is...

H.264 Chrome Extension from Microsoft →
For you Windows 7 users out there, this is your best bet to getting proper H.264 support back in Chrome, where it belongs. This is the direct link to the extension; you can read some interesting analysis about the extension from Ars Technica.

Readability →
Readability boosts two aspects of how you read the Web:
It improves the look of the content by giving you a minimal, easy-to-read version of the article.
It improves the content itself, indirectly, by giving monetary compensation to the writers.
I have to wonder, though, will writers start encouraging their readers to use Readability? Imagine if Daring Fireball, Engadget or half your favorite...

Pandora Extension for Chrome →
Though not an official extension, which would be awesome, this Pandora-playing addon for Chrome is much more pleasing to use than their Flash-based web client.
