Readability
Readability boosts two aspects of how you read the Web:
- It improves the look of the content by giving you a minimal, easy-to-read version of the article.
- It improves the content itself, indirectly, by giving monetary compensation to the writers.
I have to wonder, though, will writers start encouraging their readers to use Readability? Imagine if Daring Fireball, Engadget or half your favorite Tumblr blogs were only accessible with the Readability plugin. Personally, if every site on my RSS feed required or even requested Readability I would have no issue ponying up $5/month, but I can imagine the storm that would brew up if that was the case.
As it is now, though, it’s an entirely arbitrary option on your part, but do you think your favorite article writers are worth $5/month? If so, then you’ll love this plugin, because it lets you thank your favorite authors in a way that an email could never match. Also, you’ll get an awesome, minimalist reading view, and that alone might be worth it.
As far as I’m concerned, I’ve paid for a month of Readability. We’ll see if it’s worth paying for many more.
