Alternative Vote & UK/Canadian Politics
I’m not British or Canadian (well, technically I could be considered Canadian, but I don’t live there), but the idea of an alternative vote sounds like a good idea to me: it at least guarantees that a majority gets a candidate that’s close to what they want, rather than the biggest minority getting the candidate they want. It’s useless in America, where two candidates get 95% of the votes in every election, but it makes sense for 3+ party systems.
Note that I’m not criticizing the outcome of the elections themselves (though Adam certainly does), but the idea itself seems sound in theory.
