The MacBook Pro is the best laptop I’ve tried. The Apple Keyboard is the best keyboard I’ve tried. The iPhone is the best phone I’ve tried. The Cinema Display is the best screen I’ve tried. The best mouse I’ve tried… is the Logitech Anywhere MX.
It won’t win any design awards (though it’s hardly ugly). But it’s the most refined mouse I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. The mouse is nearly perfect - the scroll wheel is as good as it gets, the laser is perfectly accurate, and the shape is quite ergonomically sound.
Does it have gestures like the Magic Mouse, or bluetooth capability? Nope. But I don’t want to deal with the serious tradeoffs that come with both of those. Yes, it’ll look out of place around a Mac, but the thing’s hidden underneath your fingertips most of the time anyway, so what does it matter? I want the most hassle-free hardware you can get before anything else, and it’s the one area where Apple doesn’t deliver.
That said, Apple keyboards are still the best bang for the buck compared to whatever Logitech and Microsoft make. Anyways, that’s my spontaneous input device recommendation for the month.
